Cleaning versus restoration

Standard window cleaning removes loose soil, salt film, pollen, fingerprints, and ordinary residue. Hard-water staining is different. Water evaporates while dissolved calcium, lime, and other minerals stay behind, gradually creating white dots, cloudy arcs, or a rough-looking film bonded to the glass.
This is especially common where lawn sprinklers repeatedly strike lower windows, patio doors, pool-enclosure glass, or storefront panels. More ordinary cleaning does not necessarily solve it; the deposit and the condition of the glass need to be evaluated first.

Know the limit before the work
Buffing is not scratch removal.
A mineral deposit sits on or reacts with the glass surface. A scratch is a physical groove in the glass. The equipment, risk, and restoration method are different, so Pro Exterior does not offer scratch grinding or scratch removal.

What is window buffing?
Window buffing is a specialty glass-restoration step for hard-water stains and mineral deposits that remain after normal cleaning. The glass is evaluated and a small test area may be polished before the full scope is recommended.
What causes hard-water stains on windows?
Sprinkler overspray, irrigation systems, pool water, and repeated runoff can leave calcium and other dissolved minerals on glass. As the water evaporates, the minerals remain and may bond to the surface.
Can every cloudy window be restored?
No. Buffing can significantly improve many mineral-deposit stains, but deeply etched, damaged, or failed insulated glass may not return to perfect clarity. We explain the likely result before recommending the work.
Does Pro Exterior remove scratches from windows?
